What's Up with Bone Marrow Donation?
Host Andrew Willyoung interviews Carol Gillespie Executive Director of the Asian American Donor Program, and Patient Advocates Stacie Tamaki of Helping Tami.org, and James Nguyen of Team Matthew.org. They discuss the use of donated stem cells from bone marrow to treat leukemia, myelodysplasia, and other blood cancers. Donor/patient compatibility depends heavily on ethnicity. Unfortunately, ethnic minorities are underrepresented in the donor registry. During this 30 minute video Andrews implores his audience to get involved and to get registered.
