Marrow Donor Videos

What's Up with Bone Marrow Donation?

Host Andrew Willyoung interviews Carol Gillespie Executive Director of the Asian American Donor Program, and Patient Advocates Stacie Tamaki of Helping Tami.org, and James Nguyen of Team Matthew.org. They discuss the use of donated stem cells from bone marrow to treat leukemia, myelodysplasia, and other blood cancers. Donor/patient compatibility depends heavily on ethnicity. Unfortunately, ethnic minorities are underrepresented in the donor registry. During this 30 minute video Andrews implores his audience to get involved and to get registered. In Production:
Smile, Swab and Spread the Word!

The Concept: The video will be comprised of single line cameos given by celebrities, everyday people and those who have actually donated their marrow in the past. The video will focus on inspiring people to join the National Marrow Donor Program and to help spread the word about the donor program in a positive manner. Click Here for more details.

Project Michelle Documentary

In September 2008, Lauren Rudser, a graduate student at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, contacted Project Michelle and was interested in sharing her story through a documentary. They thought it was a great idea, and hoped it would provide a glimpse into the life of patients looking for a donor for a bone marrow transplant.

Special thanks to Lauren and her colleagues, Kaiser Permanente, and Dr. Johnson for contributing to this great piece.

For any questions regarding distribution, please contact savemichelle@gmail.com.
